The spookiest time of year is upon us and as the nation prepares to scare each other senseless for Halloween, the ITV2 Blood Squad has assembled to once again eliminate the fears that surround blood donation.
Last year, ITV2 and NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) came together in a bid to dispel young peoples’ reservations about giving blood. During the campaign an enormous 31,000 people registered as blood donors, a 19% increase in registrations compared to the year prior.
As a result of the enormous rise in donor registrations, the ITV2 Blood Squad is back for a second year running, to encourage more young donors to register and book an appointment at one of the 23 donation centres across England.
This year’s squad is led by I’m A Celebrity…Extra Camp hosts Emily Atack and Joel Dommett and comprises an array of other fangtastic famous faces who are urging young people to register and donate.
Love Island’s Tommy Fury, Molly-Mae Hague, Curtis Pritchard, Amy Hart, Anna Vakili, Yewande Biala and ITV2 Blood Squad veteran Dr Alex George are joined by Ibiza Weekender’s Jordan Davies and David Potts as well as Don’t Hate The Playaz’s Lady Leshurr, proving that the ITV2 Blood Squad is ultimate #SquadGhouls.
The fresh, Halloween-themed promos produced and created by award winning ad agency, ITV Creative, see the squad debut their scariest looks yet leaving some of them completely unrecognisable. The promos will run on air, in cinema, and across digital and social media from 17th October in the lead up to Halloween.
The Witchfinder is an original new comedy for BBC Two following a witchfinder and his suspect on a road-free road trip through an England gripped by civil war, famine and plague.
It’s the year of our Lord 1647 and fear of witchcraft is rife. Puritanical Christianity, deep-seated superstition and a willingness to scapegoat outsiders have created a tinderbox of suspicion in which few are safe. In this environment, witchfinding has flourished, as self-appointed witch experts achieve hero status by investigating accusations of witchery and extracting confessions.
A failing witchfinder (Tim Key) transports a suspected witch (Daisy May Cooper) across 1640s East Anglia to a trial that could change his fortunes forever. But his captive is the worst possible travel companion: an inquisitive, uncouth woman whose ability to prick his pomposity and ask uncomfortable questions turns a straightforward journey into a life-changing ordeal.
The Witchfinder is created by Neil and Rob Gibbons, the writers and directors of This Time With Alan Partridge.
Daisy May Cooper says: “I cannot wait to be starring in The Witchfinder with the absolutely brilliant Tim Key. I've always wanted to be a witch, my mother says I've got the nose and chin hair for it. I dabbled a bit in witchcraft when I was in my teens and ended up accidentally inviting an incubus into my house. He was an absolute prick.”
Tim Key says: “I’m delighted to be working with the mercurially talented Gibbons brothers again, particularly on something set in 17th century England - which they seem to have a fairly loose grasp of - and I'm excited to do a road trip but on horses (I can’t ride a horse). I love the idea of Daisy May Cooper being a pissed-off witch anyway so the fact that I’m playing her antagonist is the icing on the cake. Can’t wait to saddle up.”
Caroline Flack is to present Channel 4 factual entertainment series The Surjury, the series where a 12-strong jury of the public must decide if people get to undertake the cosmetic surgery they’ve always dreamed of.
The Surjury, commissioned from Gobstopper television, allows people to explore their choices more thoroughly and to take measured advice from their peers, some of whom may previously have gone under the knife themselves and will happily share their views and experiences.
Candidates requesting surgery must secure the majority of the jury vote in order to get their procedure. Months later they’ll be invited back to show the results.
Caroline will introduce those wanting the surgery to the Jury, sharing facts about the procedures and the cosmetic surgery that they are requesting.
Caroline Flack said: “I’m over the moon to be hosting this exciting brand new show and my first for Channel 4.“

ITV’s six part factual drama, White House Farm, produced by New Pictures revolves around one fateful night in August 1985 when five members of the same family were murdered at an Essex farmhouse; Sheila Caffell, her twin six-year-old sons, Daniel and Nicholas, and her parents, Nevill and June Bamber.
The series will seek to provide fresh insight into this family tragedy and the contested accounts of the events that took place at White House Farm. Based on extensive research, interviews and published accounts including, ‘The Murders at White House Farm’ by Carol Ann Lee with additional material from ‘In Search of The Rainbow’s End’ by Colin Caffell, husband of Sheila and father to Daniel and Nicholas Caffell.
Essex Police initially believed that Sheila, who had mental health problems, had murdered her own family before turning the gun on herself. But Detective Sergeant Stan Jones had doubts about the murder-suicide theory, and about Sheila’s brother Jeremy Bamber, who first called the police to the farm. Eventually it was Jeremy Bamber who was charged and convicted of the murders of his own parents, sister and nephews. Bamber is currently serving life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. He is one of the few prisoners in the UK subject to a whole-life order. Bamber still maintains his innocence.
Freddie Fox takes the role of Jeremy Bamber with Mark Addy as DS Stan Jones and Stephen Graham as DCI ‘Taff’ Jones. Gemma Whelan, Mark Stanley, Alexa Davies, Cressida Bonas, Alfie Allen, Amanda Burton and Nicholas Farrell also take roles in the drama.
White House Farm will air on ITV in early 2020.

The drama, which stars Sven Nordin and Carrie-Anne Moss, is based on the best-selling books The Caveman and The Hunting Dogs by writer Jørn Lier Horst. Set in the unique and stunning landscape of Norway, this series follows homicide detective William Wisting as he wrestles with the most challenging and shocking case of his career: a wanted American serial killer preying amongst them.

The pair are brought in to help Wisting and his team apprehend the infamous killer who has eluded capture for years. Leading Norwegian theatre and film actor Sven Nordin (Valkyrien) stars as Detective William Wisting.
Meanwhile, Line - Wisting’s intrepid journalist daughter - is chasing headlines, leading her straight into the path of the serial killer.
Suddenly, an old case comes back to haunt Wisting, and a dreadful accusation is hurled at him. How will Wisting save other lives when he finds himself suspended and fighting for his own reputation, career and life?
Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, says:
"Wisting has already been a tremendous success in Norway, and we have no doubt that BBC viewers will be equally engaged by such a likeable, emotionally complex lead character, and a compelling plot full of twists and turns."
Chris Stewart, Commercial Director, Scripted, comments,
“Wisting is a multi-layered drama, that is sure to keep BBC audiences in suspense throughout. It’s a classic cat-and-mouse thriller interwoven with some scintillating character performances from a stellar cast. Dancing on Ice has a ‘Fabulous’ new addition to its sparkling ice panel as John Barrowman takes a seat alongside Torvill and Dean and Ashley Banjo for the 2020 series.
A veteran of stage and screen, John Barrowman will be providing his very own expert critique as a fresh assortment of famous faces take to the ice next year.
The speculator skating competition, which sees celebrities paired with a professional skating partner in a bid to be crowned champion of the ice, returns in a blaze of glory next year.
John will be joined on the judging panel by head judges and skating legends Torvill and Dean, and dance supremo Ashley Banjo, as they cast their eye over the class of 2020 in a bid to find a superstar skater to follow in the footsteps of previous champions James Jordan and Jake Quickenden.
John Barrowman MBE said:
“I am so excited to be returning to the Dancing On Ice family. Unlike most I have been through the rigorous task of skating live as a contestant in the first series. This is a thrilling adventure for me and I hope to bring a Fresh, Fun and Fab-u-lous angle to the judging panel.”
Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning, ITV, said:
“John’s quick wit, inimitable talent and all round fabulous personality make him the perfect addition to Dancing on Ice’s all star panel and we’re looking forward to seeing him bring his own brand of sparkle to the show.”
Hosted by EastEnders star Danny Dyer, The Wall (6x45') is the ultimate combination of strategy, knowledge and luck and will see the questions voiced by TV legend, Angela Rippon.
Wildly unpredictable with heart stopping jeopardy, The Wall gives and The Wall takes away. Expect colossal wins and heart-breaking losses, this new game show really can change people’s lives in an instant.
In this game, pairs need the right answers, the right bounces and cast-iron trust in each other to win a life-changing cash prize.
The Wall, an original format created by SpringHill Entertainment and Andrew Glassman’s Glassman Media in collaboration with Universal Television Alternative Studio, was first shown in America on NBC in 2016. The most travelled format of 2017 and 2018, The Wall is an international hit and has sold to 24 territories around the globe.
The Wall has been commissioned by Charlotte Moore, Director BBC Content and Kate Phillips, Controller, Entertainment. The Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Rachel Ashdown. The Executive Producer for Remarkable is Richard Hague. The Series Producer is Stephen Lovelock.
In each show one pair take on The Wall in three rounds that are the ultimate combination of strategy, knowledge and luck.
Freefall (Round one)
A pair of contestants start out playing together for fast cash in freefall. A multiple-choice question with two possible answers is asked as three balls fly down The Wall. The balls fall randomly towards slots of varying cash amounts. The players have until one ball has reached the money to lock in their answer. If they’re correct, the balls turn green and money is added to their prize pot. However, answer a question incorrectly and the ball turns red, deducting the amounts of the slots they land in. There are five questions in freefall and the only rule is that players must finish the round with cash to progress.
The money slots have larger cash amount added. The pair of contestants separate. One goes into isolation, the other stays with the host. The player gets two free green balls to try and accumulate cash. But whichever slots they drop from at the end of the round, two red balls will also have to drop the same slots. The players then face three questions. The player in isolation, under intense pressure, will answer the questions whilst their partner takes risks on The Wall.
For each question, the player in front of The Wall is shown three possible answers, before deciding which slots to place the balls, based on whether they think their partner is going to answer the question correctly or not. The more confident they are, they should place them to the right - closer to the higher amounts. The less confident they are, they place them to the left - nearer the smaller amounts. If the isolation player is correct the ball turns green, if they’re wrong, the ball turns red - but the isolation player never knows if they’ve answered correctly. For questions two and three, The Wall player has the chance to double up and then triple up - players make this decision after seeing the possible answers to the question and must decide based on their confidence in the isolation player. The balls are all played on the same number. At the end of the round, The Wall player must drop the two red balls from the same number as the free green balls at the top of the round. These will subtract the amount of whatever they land in.
The money slots have larger cash amount added. Round two works in a similar way to the previous round but this time players get three free green balls to drop, in order to try and maximise their cash winnings. But whichever slots they drop the balls from they will have to drop three red balls from the same slots at the end of the round. The players face three more questions, this time with four possible answers. As before, the player in isolation will answer the questions while their partner takes risks on The Wall. Again, for questions two and three, The Wall player has the chance to double up and then triple up - players make this decision after seeing the possible answers to the question and must decide based on their confidence in the isolation player.
In the final round before the final three red balls are dropped, the isolation player is sent the contract. If the isolation player signs it, the pair take home the sum that was banked in the freefall round, plus a cash amount for every correct answer they gave over the course of the game - this is the guarantee. However, they’re in isolation so they don’t know how well (or badly) they’ve played and what the final value of the guarantee is. If the isolation player tears it up, they take the risk that their partner has been more successful and they will take home whatever is left on The Wall. If there’s any money left in play on the wall, the player must drop the three red balls from the same number as the free green balls at the top of the round. These will subtract the amount of whatever they land in.
The players are reunited at the end of the game and the isolation player explains how and why they came to their decision. Their partner then tells them what was on The Wall and they either celebrate or commiserate - depending on whether the isolation player made the right decision to take the most out of the game.

Following a one off episode broadcast earlier this year as part of BBC Two’s series of New on Two comedy pilots, Semi-Detached is set to return to the channel for a full series.
Made by Happy Tramp North and written by David Crow and Oliver Maltman, each episode of Semi-Detached (6x30') plays out in real time and is exactly like 24, except instead of following a government agent as he saves the planet, the series follows a perennial loser called Stuart (Lee Mack - Not Going Out, Would I Lie To You?) as his life goes down the pan in a suburban cul-de-sac. Each episode of Semi-Detached will give viewers an incredibly fast moving, half-hour window into Stuart’s world.
All Stuart wants is a quiet life as a wedding DJ but his family seems to have other ideas. On top of barely coping with a (much younger) partner April (Ellie White - Stath Lets Flats, The Other One) and a new born baby, Stuart also has to look out for his jailbird brother Charlie (Neil Fitzmaurice - Peep Show, Mount Pleasant) and his promiscuous, drug-taking Dad Willie (Clive Russell - Happiness, Game Of Thrones). Then there’s the ex-wife Kate (Samantha Spiro - Sex Education, Grandma’s House), who lives across the cul-de-sac with their teenage daughter Madonna (Sarah Hoare - Chewing Gum, Black Mirror) and Kate’s husband Ted (Patrick Baladi - The Office, Stella) who thinks he’s better than Stuart because he sells fish to sushi restaurants.
Neil Webster, Executive Producer Happy Tramp North, says: “David Crow and Oliver Maltman have not only written the funniest scripts I have ever read, they’ve also effortlessly managed to make the whole series play out in real time. And with an incredibly funny cast headed up by Lee Mack, we’re confident that Semi-Detached is going to be a genuinely laugh out loud series. Or your money back.”
Illustrious musical trio David Arnold, Don Black and Robbie Williams team up for original theme song for The Tiger Who Came to Tea
A glittering trio of British musical talent has collaborated on the theme song for Channel 4’s much-anticipated adaptation of Judith Kerr’s classic storybook The Tiger Who Came to Tea (HarperCollins Children’s Books). Multi award-winning composer David Arnold and Oscar-winning lyricist Don Black have penned infectiously catchy tune ‘Hey Tiger!’, which has been recorded for the film by much loved singer-songwriter and entertainer Robbie Williams.
‘Hey Tiger!’ will play over a visually ambitious animated fantasy segment featuring the tiger in a range of never-before-seen locations, imagined from the point of view of Sophie, the little girl who receives an unexpected visit from the tiger.
The music for ‘Hey Tiger!’ and the original score for The Tiger Who Came to Tea, based on the best-selling book by Judith Kerr, have been composed by multi-award-winning composer David Arnold who, among his many credits, has scored five James Bond films and a plethora of films and television shows, including Sherlock. The song’s lyrics have been composed by Oscar-winning lyricist and BBC R2 DJ Don Black, who incidentally has also provided lyrics for five James Bond films, as well as a number of classic hits, including ‘Born Free’ which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1966. Robbie Williams performs the song with trademark style and personality. The 18-times Brit Award winner and the UK’s best-selling solo artist, Robbie has hit No. 1 with seven singles and 10 albums, including two swing-influenced releases. The score was recorded and mixed at Air Studios.
Speaking at Sleeper Sounds where the song was recorded, Robbie Williams, who is a father of three, said: “This book has played a big part in me bonding with my kids. I’ve read it possibly 150 times to my first daughter, Teddy, and she is the reason I’m singing the song – I’m honouring those moments with her. She loved the book and I got a real heart-warming kick reading a line and her finishing it, so it will be forever in my heart. Plus I’m a massive fan of Don Black and it’s an honour to be singing the words he’s written. The song reflects the tiger’s wonderful, magical and mischievous character – it’s whimsical and just what a song should be in this film.”

Sky original Upright, starring Tim Minchin and Milly Alcock, set to air on 28th November on Sky Atlantic
On 28th November 2019, Sky Atlantic and NOW TV will take audiences on a wild road trip across the Australian outback with brand new, sharp-tongued and touching Sky original comedy drama, Upright.
Written by and starring critically acclaimed musician, comedian, actor, writer and director Tim Minchin, Upright, follows two misfits thrown together by chance in the middle of the Australian desert, who forge the unlikeliest of bonds in their quest to get a precious piano from one side of the country to the other.
Lucky Flynn, played by Minchin, hasn’t spoken to his family in years. He’s broke, distant and damaged. He’s also a gifted pianist, whose talent for music is matched only by his talent for self-destruction. When he learns that his mother has only days left to live, Lucky sets off in a hire car to drive the 4,000km from Sydney to Perth to say goodbye, taking with him his only cherished possession in the world: a battered and scarred upright piano.
What should have been a straightforward drive across the outback soon becomes a test of Lucky’s emotional fitness when he quite literally runs into Meg, played Milly Alcock, a hilarious, tough-as-nails teenager who we soon discover has plenty of scars and secrets of her own.
All episodes of Upright (8x30) will be available to viewers from 28th November on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW TV in the UK and from 1st December on Foxtel in Australia.
Tim Minchin said “Making Upright was a complete joy and a massive privilege. After living overseas for more than a decade, I couldn’t have hoped to come home to a more fun and inspiring project: an original Australian outback adventure story, full of heart and laughter, made by some of most talented and dedicated creatives in the country. It’s a unique but universal story about family, resilience, music, forgiveness, and learning how to find a moment to breath out. And it’s full of silliness, action, and wonderful performances, and will make you want to go to the beach and/or ring your mum”.

Newcomer Omari Douglas plays London-born 17-year-old Roscoe Babatunde, a wild, brittle party boy, always on the run.
Newcomer Callum Scott Howells plays Colin Morris-Jones, a quiet, unassuming, boy from Wales, about to become an apprentice on Savile Row.
Lydia West (Years and Years) plays Jill Baxter, Ritchie’s friend from college, straight-talking, funny, and the rock on which they rely.
Nathaniel Curtis plays Ash, a faithful friend through thick and thin.
The cast also includes Keeley Hawes (Honour, Bodyguard, The Durrells, Line of Duty), who plays Valerie, Ritchie’s mum, Shaun Dooley (Gentleman Jack, Broadchurch, Woman in Black) who plays Clive, his dad, Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother, Gone Girl, A Series of Unfortunate Events) as Henry Coltrane, Stephen Fry (Wilde, Gosford Park, Bones) as MP Arthur Garrison, and Tracy Ann Oberman (Friday Night Dinner, Toast of London, After Life) as Carol Carter.
Olly Alexander says: “I feel like the luckiest boy in the world to be a part of this project, I’ve been a fan of Russell T Davies ever since I watched Queer As Folk in secret at 14 years old. His work helped shape my identity as a gay person so I’m absolutely over the moon we’ll be working together. The script was amazing to read, I laughed and I cried a lot, it’s a privilege to be helping to tell this story and I’m so excited.”
Neil Patrick Harris says: “I’m so pleased, and incredibly proud, to be a part of Russell T Davies’ new series. This drama, Boys, is two things: it is an irresistible, funny, jubilant story of young people discovering their true identities and the unalloyed joy of living life to the fullest, it is also a deeply resonant exploration of a decade when so many of these lives were cut short by the devastating effects of the nascent AIDS pandemic. Russell’s scripts chart the highs and lows of this time so beautifully and deftly, it’s an honour to help tell this story.”
Filming begins next week and the series will air on Channel 4 in 2020.
