Exclusive Chinese series The Victims' Game debuts worldwide today

Today marks the global premiere of Netflix’s exclusive Chinese series The Victims’ Game. The series is produced by Greener Grass Production, a winner of numerous Golden Bell Awards in Taiwan. The story is inspired by The Fourth Victim, a bestselling book written by Taiwanese mystery novelist INFINITY.

Starring accomplished actors like Joseph Chang, Wei-Ning Hsu and Shih-Hsien Wang, and featuring one of the most watched Chinese TV actresses, Ruby Lin, this exciting 8-episode mystery and investigation series is set to blow your mind.

Chief Executive Producer Han-xian Zeng says:
“Apart from eye-catching entertainment elements such as serial murder incidents, suspense reasoning plots, as well as stylised character settings, the essence of the story told in The Victims’ Game lies in humanity and love. The main character is a talented forensic expert and a father unable to express his feelings. By hunting down the perpetrators in a series of cases, he tries to rescue those in society who have given up on themselves. However, he also has a hidden agenda unknown to others.

What will happen next? With a level of emotional arousal rarely achieved in the crime investigation genre, this series hopes to resonate with audiences from Taiwan and the rest of the world and take them on a 9-hour mind-striking journey.

Chief producer Sheng-jung Tang adds that:
“The Victims’ Game not only preserves its original Taiwanese features, but also embraces a global perspective. This crime based series set in the local investigation environment of Taiwan, providing a brand-new vision to audiences throughout the world in a narrative way like no other. It is definitely a production that deserves worldwide attention. We hope that global audiences would come to know these talented cast and crew through this series!”

Netflix’s exclusive Chinese Series The Victims’ Game will be premiering globally on 30 April.

Tom Allen to explore 65 years of TV adverts

Comedian Tom Allen is to delve into the advertising archives in a new series produced by Boundless for Channel 4.

Tom Allen: Ad Man (w/t) celebrates 65 years of the nation’s best-loved and most outrageous TV adverts, charting the changing values and attitudes of the UK along the way.

During a romp through six decades of the TV ads that made us gasp, laugh, cry and buy, Tom reveals what some of Britain’s most iconic ad campaigns really say about us. Over four episodes, he’ll take a smart look at the infamous and the long-forgotten, unearthing ads that could be baulked at or banned today, as well as revisiting the nostalgic, the heart-warming and the uplifting.

Tom will make viewers think as well as laugh, as he delves into the issues of gender, race, class and Britishness, and explores how our evolving attitudes to these issues have been reflected in the ads beamed into the nation’s living rooms.

Filmed from the comfort of Tom’s own home, Tom Allen: Ad Man (w/t) will feature playful spoofs and lots of laughs, alongside thought-provoking observations. It will be filmed with a self-shooting kit while Tom is self-isolating in the home he shares with his parents.

Tom Allen said: “I’m delighted to be analysing the world of advertising which, in our consumer age, has really dictated how we see ourselves. I don’t even know who I am unless I’m buying something! If I buy Ski Yoghurt - does that make me a health freak? If I choose Diet Coke - does that mean I should take my top off? Would drinking Cinzano make me Joan Collins??! Anyway, fingers crossed it’s just as glamourous as the programme Mad Men, but here’s hoping I don’t start smoking, drinking Scotch during the day and having an affair with my secretary.”

Channel 4 announces 100 Ways to Make a Baby

Channel 4 has commissioned a 1x60 film which follows the journey of Jake and Hannah Graf as they become Britain’s most prominent transgender parents. Jake and Hannah announced the birth of their baby, Millie, on April 16th 2020, but their path to parenthood has had some unique challenges along the way.

Made by Parable and filmed over a year by director Gussy Sakula-Barry, the documentary follows the pair as they strive to turn their dream of starting a family into a reality, using Jake's embryos that he had frozen. As they embark on their unique experience, the couple face up to various ideas of what it means to be a parent in modern Britain and explore the options for surrogacy open to British people in the UK and abroad. With their Belfast-based surrogate's due date rapidly approaching and the country in lockdown, they have to race to Northern Ireland to make it in time for the birth.

Jake and Hannah married in 2018. Jake is a writer, filmmaker and actor known for his roles in The Danish Girl and Colette. Hannah was one the highest-ranking transgender officers in the British Army and has an MBE for her work with LGBT army personnel.

Jake and Hannah Graf said: “When we began the nail biting journey to parenthood, we could never have imagined the rollercoaster ride that would follow and the additional pressures and challenges that came with having our baby during a global pandemic. From finding our surrogate through lockdowns, C sections and struggling to register our baby, there has never been a dull moment, and this film will one day be the most incredible memento for the star of the show, our beautiful daughter Millie.”

Captain Tom's War

Captain Tom's War

Fri 08 May 2020 - 8.00pm - 8.30pm

Captain Tom Moore, Britain’s new national treasure, will tell the story of his part in World War Two for this new ITV documentary to be shown on VE Day.

The former British Army Officer who raised more than £28million for the NHS by walking 100 lengths of his garden with his frame, actually fought in Burma and shares his memories of the conflict to draw attention to the “forgotten war” on the occasion.

Airing just a week after his own centenary celebrations, in this new programme Tom looks back on his time during the War in the brutal Burma campaign, as a million Allied troops from 40 nations attempted to repel the invading forces of Imperial Japan from the British colony over almost three years, between 1941 and 1944.

Captain Tom honours the soldiers who fought in what has since become known, with so much focus on the European battlefront and on VE Day, as 'The Forgotten War’, which finally came to an end in August 1945.

The fact the Burma campaign, fought in what is now known as Myanmar, remains relatively unknown is a real bugbear for the Yorkshireman, which is why he committed to redressing the balance by making the programme.

Captain Tom’s War will also feature Tom’s daughters, Lucy and Hannah, who reveal family photos from their trip back to Burma.

Captain Tom entered officer training in 1940 at the age of 20, going on to serve in India before reaching Burma. There he was involved in the massive amphibious assault on Arakan, the instrumental part of recapturing the colony, before pushing on with his troops to the capital, Rangoon.

Featuring Captain Tom's recollections interwoven with archive footage, this programme aims to provide a stirring and vivid insight into both the conditions for those who went into battle, and the man himself.

This is a North One production for ITV

Gemma Collins is a Diva on Lockdown

ITV today announced the return of Diva Forever to ITVBe, with new title Diva on Lockdown.

The brand new series, made by Lime Pictures, will follow the nation's favourite diva and Queen of memes, Gemma Collins, as she deals with the Coronavirus lockdown and finds new ways of sharing her lifestyle with the nation.

Viewers will see how the icon of Essex has adapted to the UK being in lockdown. As working from home becomes the norm and with schools, restaurants and shops closed across the country, the GC says farewell to her film crew and instead, fixed-rig cameras will capture the nation’s favourite diva at home.

Before the lockdown, successful business woman Gemma Collins was searching for her new dream home and not only rubbing shoulders with famous faces, she was also mixing in Royal circles.

With Gemma closing the doors to her Brentwood shop, will the lockdown put her dream home and future in jeopardy?

Gemma Collins said:
“We were in the middle of filming my new series of Diva with loads of exciting stuff planned. But as you know, we’ve found ourselves in the middle of a pandemic. So here we are now…I’m standing in my living room, with fixed rig cameras all over my house to bring you Diva on Lockdown. You want the GC, so the GC found a new way of working. You’re going to see everything that I do in isolation. We’ll all be on our journey together.”

Gemma continued:
“I’m being filmed and I’ve also got the producers speaking in my ear so if it sounds as if I’m talking to myself…well maybe sometimes I am. I can guarantee though, what you see will definitely be 100% authentic GC. I hope it cheers you up in these difficult times.”

Tributes to Tim Brooke-Taylor

Statement from Tim Brooke-Taylor’s agent: “It is with great sadness that we announce Tim’s death early today from COVID-19. Joining Footlights in 1960 took him to providing a huge variety of splendid entertainment - television, radio, theatre, film, books, DVDs, CDs, quizzes, etc. - all of which he undertook with energy and a great sense of fun. We will remember him for so much but must just mention The Goodies and I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue. He had, of course, many fans whom he always treated cheerfully even after long and exhausting rehearsals and recordings. He was an exceptional client and a pleasure to represent. We’re grateful that we have so much of his work to view, read and listen to. In all the time with us and in all his showbiz work, he has been supported by Christine, his wife.”

Sioned Wiliam, Radio 4’s Commissioning Editor for Comedy, added: “Tim Brooke-Taylor had a long and distinguished career in comedy. He was charming, quick witted and a hugely skilful comic. He was much loved both by our listeners and by his colleagues, and he will be sorely missed by all at Radio 4.”

Graeme Garden said: “I am terribly saddened by the loss of a dear colleague and close friend of over 50 years. Tim and I met at Cambridge University in the early 1960s and have enjoyed working together almost constantly from that time onwards, on radio, stage, and TV. He was a funny, sociable, generous man who was a delight to work with. Audiences found him not only hilarious but also adorable. His loss at this dreadful time is particularly hard to bear, and my thoughts are with Christine, Ben, Edward and their families.”

Jack Dee said: “It has come as devastating news to hear that Tim has succumbed to this dreadful virus - especially when we all thought he was recovering. Tim was a delightful man and never anything but great company. It has always been one of the great joys of my career to work with someone who was part of the comedy landscape of my childhood. I can’t bear the thought of introducing I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue without being able to say: 'And on my right, Tim Brooke-Taylor…' Tim brought a unique quality to Clue. He was a proper team player, very generous as a performer, never egotistical and always more than delighted to set himself up as the butt of the joke. For me, his great comedy gift was playing the injured innocent and he did it with brilliance and a characteristic lightness of touch. It’s always heartbreaking to lose a loved one, but these times have created the cruelest of circumstances for that to happen in and my thoughts are with his wife Christine and all his family.”

Together with her husband, Nicole owns a personal training company, NEON PT and gym. She also runs her own railway recruitment company. If they are successful, Nicole will become the third woman in the UK to own a football club.

Nicole Sealey commented:
“Since moving to Cheshire five years ago with my family, I’ve come across many of The Real Housewives, but joining the show is a brilliant opportunity to get to know all of them better. I’m proud to join such an amazing and powerful group of women. I can’t wait to get started!”

The new series picks up with life as busy as ever at Warford Hall. As Dawn and the Ward family start to plan for Darby’s wedding, it’s time for Ester to move out as she starts to question her place in Cheshire and where her future lies. Newlywed Hanna starts to consider how becoming a mother might impact on her perfect life with Martin, whilst Rachel starts to explore the dating scene. Seema and Tanya also look to expand their businesses – but will Tanya’s new crystal venture stimulate the excitement she hopes for? And how will Lauren settle back in?

Lauren Simon commented:
“Having been a cast member since the very beginning, I’m honoured to be making my return to the show. The cast and crew are like a family to me and after a particularly difficult year, I’m over the moon to be able to come back and have some fun with my girlies!”
