Synopsis
Following three series of the internationally acclaimed, smash-hit detective drama Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, the fabulous Miss Fisher returns in her very own feature-length adventure Miss Fisher & the Crypt of Tears.
.
Featuring Australian star Essie Davis (The Babadook, True History of the Kelly Gang) in the eponymous role, and packed full of 1920s glamour and intrigue, Miss Fisher & the Crypt of Tears arrives on DVD courtesy of Acorn Media International on 4 May 2020 following its British premiere on UKTV’s Alibi.

The fantastic Miss Phryne Fisher (Davis), lady detective extraordinaire, is perfectly at home wielding a pearl-handled pistol and her dagger-sharp wit on the backstreets of Melbourne…but a new case sees her spanning the world from Australia to London and Palestine, where she frees Shirin Abbas, a young Bedouin girl (Izabella Yena) from her unjust imprisonment in Jerusalem. In doing so, Phryne begins to unravel a decade-old mystery concerning priceless emeralds, ancient curses and the truth behind the suspicious disappearance of Shirin’s forgotten tribe.

We see the return of Detective John Robinson aka Jack (Nathan Page – Underbelly, The Secret Life of Us), Phryne’s faithful, flirtatious friend, who is more often than not in need of rescue. Other featured fan favourites include Phryne’s trusty companion and maid Dot (Ashleigh Cummings – The Goldfinch, Westside) and her naïve husband Constable Hugh Collins (Hugo Johnstone-Burt – San Andreas, Home and Away), as well as Miriam Margoyles (Harry Potter, Call the Midwife) as Phryne’s disapproving Aunt Prudence.

New characters include the easy-going Lord ‘Lofty’ Lofthouse (Daniel Lapaine – Catastrophe, Black Mirror), his elegant wife Lady Eleanor (Jacqueline McKenzie – Romper Stomper, Deep Blue Sea), and his reserved younger brother First Lieutenant Jonathan Lofthouse (Rupert Penry-Jones – Black Sails, Spooks). This British aristocratic family have ties to Phryne’s, a military history in the Middle East…and may hold the key to the unravelling mystery.

With missing gems, secretive archaeologists, fantastic fashion, guilty secrets, daring escapes, dusty marketplace chases and high-speed train jaunts, of course the incorrigible Phryne still has time to leave a trail of broken hearts in her wake…but will she uncover the truth?
