Images from the new EastEnders set have been released for the first time.

As filming on the new EastEnders set begins today, first look photographs of the redesigned Albert Square and the historic Queen Vic have been revealed (11 January).

The new set replaces the former Albert Square, which was erected in 1984 with the aim of only being used for two years and is now obsolete.

The BBC's longest-running TV serial drama and the wider BBC Elstree Centre have been upgraded to provide better HD for their fans and more filming choices. EastEnders writers, producers, and directors now have more latitude to explore new places on screen, allowing them to be more creative.
