Trigger Point - Series 2 Coming Soon

Production has commenced on the highly anticipated second season of ITV's hit drama series, Trigger Point. The show, which features Vicky McClure in the lead role as a police bomb disposal officer, known as an "Expo," has been a major success for both ITV1 and ITVX.

Trigger Point's first season centered around the daily lives of Expo officers working in the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad, who put their lives on the line in the face of danger. Commissioned by ITV's Head of Drama, Polly Hill, the show was the top-performing drama of 2022, attracting an average of 9.5 million viewers per episode.

The new season promises to build on the success of the first, with more explosive action, high stakes, and emotional drama. As the story continues to unfold, viewers will be drawn deeper into the world of the brave and dedicated Expo officers, who risk their lives to keep their communities safe.

Polly Hill:
"I'm delighted to have commissioned a second series of Trigger Point and to be working again with Vicky McClure and the HTM Television production team. It's the most compelling of dramas and I can't wait for the audience to see what we have in store for series two."

Alongside Vicky McClure (Without Sin), who stars as Lana 'Wash' Washington, the second series features returning cast members Nabil Elouahabi (Unforgotten, The Tower) as Hass, Eric Shango (Suspicion) as Danny, Mark Stanley (Happy Valley, The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe) as DI Thom Youngblood, Kerry Godliman (After Life, Whitstable Pearl) as Sonya Reeves, Kris Hitchen (Four Lives) as John and Kevin Eldon (Sanditon) as Jeff.

It also features new cast members Natalie Simpson (North Sea Connection, Outlander) who plays DS Helen Morgan, Julian Ovenden (Bridgerton) who plays Commander John Francis and Tomiwa Edun as Alex (Young Wallander, Trying).

Vicky McClure said:
"After such a great response to the first series of Trigger Point, we are so pleased to be back! The scripts are filled to the brim with twists, turns, those explosive moments and along with our returning cast and brilliant new cast members it's set to be an exciting shoot!"

Nabil Elouahabi said: "So happy to be back with the team, looking forward to sharing some more of Hass with the audience - here we go!"

Eric Shango said: "Happy to be back with the team again! Viewers need to strap in they're in for a bumpy ride."

The new six-part series has been written by Simon Ashdown (Our House, EastEnders), Amanda Duke (Treason) and Daniel Brierley. It was created by Daniel Brierley.

In episode one, Lana is just back from secondment training Ukrainian bomb disposal teams, but has not returned to active duty. She is giving a routine talk to security officers from major financial institutions about the issues surrounding bomb centred terrorism, when there is a bomb attack in the heart of the city. Lana is closest to the incident, but is she ready to take it on?

Trigger Point will air on ITV1 and ITVX.
