Under the masterful direction of BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Richard Laxton (renowned for Rain Dogs, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, and Mrs Wilson), this exhilarating and emotionally charged series unfolds against the vibrant backdrop of the 1980s. This iconic era, celebrated for its daring fashion, unforgettable music, and transformative cultural shifts, sets the stage for an unforgettable journey.

We are introduced to Joan, a fiery and uncompromising woman in her twenties, marked by deep scars and vulnerability. While fiercely dedicated to her six-year-old daughter, Kelly, Joan finds herself trapped in a tumultuous marriage with a violent criminal named Gary. When Gary suddenly disappears, Joan seizes the opportunity to forge a new path for herself and her daughter.

Embracing new identities and forming unexpected connections, Joan evolves into a masterful jewel thief. She embarks on a thrilling and high-stakes adventure, pushing her limits at every turn. Motivated by her unwavering love for her daughter and the burning desire to provide a secure future, Joan's journey is filled with twists and turns that test her intelligence, charm, and ability to assume different personas.
