Filming begins on 4th series of ITV drama McDonald & Dodds

Production is now underway for the highly anticipated fourth series of the beloved Bath-based detective drama McDonald & Dodds, featuring the talented duo of Tala Gouveia and BAFTA award-winner Jason Watkins.

Consisting of three feature-length films, each running for 120 minutes, the first story boasts an impressive guest cast. Joining the talented ensemble are Toby Stephens (Lost In Space), singer/songwriter Pixie Lott (The Voice Kids), Lydia Leonard (Gentleman Jack), Daniel Lapaine (Catastrophe), Dipo Ola (Landscapers), John Gordon Sinclair (Gregory's Girl), and Ace Bhatti (Line of Duty).

The initial film delves into the investigation undertaken by McDonald and Dodds after discovering the lifeless body of a middle-aged woman in a rented apartment. Stripped of all identifiers, the killer has left no trace of her true identity. However, DNA analysis uncovers that she disappeared over 35 years ago. The mystery deepens as questions arise: Where has she been all these years? And who has she been with?

Reprising their roles in the series, we welcome back Claire Skinner (Outnumbered) as Chief Superintendent Ormond and Charlie Chambers (EastEnders) as DC Goldie. Joining the cast this season is Bhavik C. Pankhania (World On Fire) portraying the character of DC Lee.

ITV has commissioned the series, led by Polly Hill and Huw Kennair Jones, with Joe Shrubb as the producer. Serving as executive producers are Robert Murphy, Damien Timmer, and Charlotte Webber. The first film is skillfully written by Robert Murphy and expertly directed by Khurrum M. Sultan.
