Bangers: Cars of the People - Coming to Channel 4

Tinie and F1 analyst and stunt driver Naomi Schiff are exploring the resurgence of cars from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Models like the Ford Sierra Cosworth, Peugeot 205 GTI, and the Citroen Saxo, which were once everyday vehicles, have now become highly sought-after and trendy, fetching high prices at auctions. These cars, known as "modern classics" among car enthusiasts, have been playfully dubbed "Bangers" by Tinie and Naomi.

In their show, "Battle of the Bangers," Tinie and Naomi examine various categories of cars, including hatchbacks, sports cars, 4x4s, and family cars. They engage in friendly competition to determine the best car in each class. With the assistance of car lovers across the UK, they delve into the performance, history, culture, and iconic status of each car. Finally, they face a final challenge to determine the ultimate winner.

Naomi Schiff, now a motorsport broadcaster with a background in kart racing, prototypes, GTs, and Formula cars, possesses extensive knowledge about automobiles. Tinie, on the other hand, has had a deep passion for cars since he bought his first one at the age of 17—a Vauxhall Corsa that he extensively modified. As an avid F1 fan, he has followed the tour around the world.

In each episode, Naomi gets the first pick of cars, and Tinie must select a car to compete against her choice. He meets enthusiastic and daring car owners from all over the UK, who try to persuade him to champion their particular model. Tinie's experiences include maneuvering a 4x4 down quarry slopes, navigating the streets of Chelsea in a 6-wheel Defender, and defending the reputation of the Renault Espace.

Furthermore, Tinie meets a different celebrity every week, exploring their personal experiences with cars. They discuss their first car, memorable moments such as their first kiss in a car, and the car they wish they had owned. Tinie surprises them with forgotten gems from the past and old photos they would love to reminisce about.

"Bangers: Cars of the People" is a show that celebrates the nostalgia, culture, and influence of cars on music, fashion, news, and celebrities—both old and new.
