The Tower - 3rd Season coming to Ch4

ITV has given the green light for a third instalment of the captivating series, "The Tower," featuring a stellar cast including Gemma Whelan, Tahirah Sharif, Jimmy Akingbola, and Emmett J Scanlan. The acclaimed screenwriter Patrick Harbinson, renowned for his work on projects like Homeland, Fearless, and 24, takes the lead in scripting. The production is a collaboration between Patrick Harbinson's Windhover Films and the well-established Mammoth Screen.

Cameras have started rolling on the highly anticipated third season of the gripping crime thriller, "The Tower," set to grace the screens of ITV1. The fresh instalment, titled "The Tower 3: Gallowstree Lane," takes its inspiration from Kate London's third novel. Patrick Harbinson's adept hand has adapted the narrative for television, ensuring a seamless transition from page to screen. The collaboration between Windhover Films and Mammoth Screen was commissioned under the discerning eye of ITV's Head of Drama, Polly Hill.

Leading the cast is Gemma Whelan, reprising her role as DS Sarah Collins, accompanied by the BAFTA-nominated Tahirah Sharif, recognized for her portrayal of PC Lizzie Adama in the initial series. Joining them are Jimmy Akingbola as DC Steve Bradshaw and Emmett J Scanlan as DI Kieran Shaw. The four-part drama is set to be produced by Mammoth Screen and Windhover Films, in partnership with ITV Studios. Patrick Harbinson, along with Mammoth Screen's Damien Timmer and Charlotte Webber, will serve as executive producers, with Charles Bates in the role of producer and Rene van Pannevis, known for his work on "Looted," taking on the director's chair. The production will be supervised by Polly Hill, overseeing the drama's creation for ITV.

"The Tower" boasts international distribution through ITV Studios, having already secured deals in more than 90 territories. The series has found a home on prestigious platforms and broadcasters such as HBO Europe, Canal+, Britbox in North America and Australia, Virgin Media in Ireland, and TVNZ. The initial series made a powerful debut on ITV, attracting an audience of 5.4 million viewers.

The second series - The Tower 2: Death Message - premieres on ITV later this month with the four-part series streaming on ITVX. The first series is also available to view on ITVX.

Commented Patrick Harbinson:
"We're delighted to be filming a third series of The Tower.  Damien and I are very grateful to Polly Hill and ITV for the early commission. Gallowstree Lane has a high-stakes drugs and gangs' storyline with Jimmy and Emmett's characters taking major roles. Sarah and Lizzie have gripping and heart-breaking stories too, as the drama of Portland Tower comes full circle. I firmly believe series three will be our best yet.'
