Musical Masterpieces, coming this September with Myleene Klass and Errollyn Wallen

Sky Arts has revealed "exciting" news, unveiling a brand-new series titled "Musical Masterpieces" (3x60), hosted by the talented musician and presenter Myleene Klass, alongside leading British composer Errollyn Wallen CBE. Together, they embark on a musical journey to uncover the enchanting secrets of three beloved classical compositions.

In collaboration with top-notch orchestras from across the UK, Myleene and Errollyn will present fresh interpretations of classical gems. These include Vivaldi's timeless "Four Seasons," brought to life by Sinfonia Cymru, Bizet's captivating "Carmen," masterfully performed by Opera North, and Mendelssohn's evocative "Hebrides Overture," splendidly orchestrated by the Philharmonic Orchestra. Throughout the series, they'll also delve into the fascinating stories behind these musical masterpieces, unveiling the hidden techniques and inspirations of the iconic composers.

Adding to the charm of the show, "Musical Masterpieces" will feature appearances by renowned figures such as Alan Titchmarsh, Simon Callow, and Nicky Spence. These guests will share their personal passions and insights into each of these celebrated compositions.

Phil Edgar-Jones, the Director of Sky Arts, expressed, "Musical Masterpieces is a perfect Sky Arts show for aficionados and novices alike - if you love the pieces Myleene and Errollyn are diving into you're sure to find something new and interesting; if you're less familiar with this beautiful music it's the perfect voyage of discovery into some truly magical worlds."

Presenter Myleene Klass shared her excitement, saying, "Some melodies feel like they've been with us forever, like part of the furniture, so it's easy to forget what their origins are, the stories behind them, why the composers were compelled to write them. I've loved working on this series, discovering and rediscovering with Errollyn. I'm certain even those familiar with these pieces will discover something new, and those just coming to classical music will be enthralled by the stories, and in some cases, the science behind them."

Presenter Errollyn Wallen added, "Making this series was a joy from start to finish. Myleene and I relished the journey into re-discovering these great works, and I can't wait to share our many insights with the viewers."

The series "Musical Masterpieces" has been commissioned by Phil Edgar-Jones, Director of Sky Arts, for Zai Bennett, MD of Content UK&I. Barbara Lee serves as the Commissioning Editor for Sky. "Musical Masterpieces" is co-produced by Full Fat TV and The Space.
