Trailer for Sky Original Series Domina Season II

Prepare for the return of an enthralling saga as Domina Season II makes its debut on September 13, 2023. This captivating historical drama, airing on Sky Atlantic and NOW, delves into the tempestuous annals of Roman history. Set during one of the most tumultuous eras, the series chronicles the remarkable ascent of Gaius Octavius, who transformed into the inaugural Emperor of Rome, known as Caesar Augustus, along with his third wife, Livia Drusilla.

Domina unravels the intense struggle for supremacy over the Roman Empire and the imperial dynasty, all seen through a unique female perspective. In its initial installment, Livia Drusilla (Kasia Smutniak), a shining star within the esteemed Claudii family, returned to Rome after a decade in exile, resolute in reclaiming her stolen legacy. Her union with Gaius - Caesar Augustus (Matthew McNulty) - positioned her at the zenith of a fractious empire and a fractured lineage. Amidst the chaos, Livia valiantly fought to safeguard her marriage and pave the way for one of her sons to ascend the imperial throne, as old and new adversaries vied for influence in a treacherous world of shifting loyalties.

Season II resumes in the year 19 BC, as Gaius and Livia reappear in Rome after a three-year sojourn in the Eastern Provinces. They're greeted with astonishment as the city simmers in revolt, and Livia's offspring embrace open rebellion. Across this season, Livia faces her sternest trials yet in fulfilling the solemn vow she made to her father - to restore the Republic and the spirit of democracy to Rome. Negotiating increasingly turbulent political waters, Livia deploys her acumen, ambition, and cunning to navigate treacherous seas. Ultimately, she confronts a harrowing ultimatum, torn between power and retribution.

Season II introduces fresh faces to the cast, including Benjamin Isaac (Holmes & Watson) as Tiberius, Joelle (Dune, The School for Good and Evil) portraying Vipsania, and David Avery (Doctor Who, The Inbetweeners Movie) as the young aristocrat Domitius.

Kasia Smutniak reprises her pivotal role as series protagonist Livia Drusilla, joined by returning series regulars such as Matthew McNulty (Gaius), Liah O’Prey (Julia), Ben Batt (Agrippa), Ewan Horrocks (Drusus), Claire Forlani (Octavia), Darrell D’Silva (Piso), Christine Bottomley (Scribonia), and Alaïs Lawson (Marcella).

Domina, a Sky Original series, was conceived by Simon Burke (Fortitude, Strike Back) and brought to life by Tiger Aspect, a Banijay UK production, in collaboration with MGM+ Studios. The worldwide distribution is managed by Banijay Rights. The sweeping tale of Domina was captured at the venerable Cinecittà Studios in Rome.

While DOMINA Season I is already available on Sky Atlantic and NOW, mark your calendars for the grand launch of DOMINA Season II on September 13, 2023, promising riveting storytelling and a mesmerizing journey into the pages of history.
