Dark Winds Season 1, Coming soon to DVD and Blu-ray

Prepare to immerse yourself in the gusts of suspense and intrigue as "Dark Winds" sweeps onto screens - a crime-thriller that will leave you breathless. From the creative genius behind Jack Ryan, Graham Roland, and executive-produced by Hollywood titan Robert Redford, an Oscar®-winning legend, alongside none other than George R. R. Martin, the mastermind behind Game of Thrones, this is a series that promises to captivate.

Celebrated for its dedication to showcasing indigenous talent both in front of and behind the camera, "Dark Winds" stands as a six-part series that draws inspiration from Tony Hillerman's best-selling mystery novel series. The ensemble is led by the exceptional Zahn McClarnon (known for Fargo, Doctor Sleep, and Reservation Dogs) and the talented Kiowa Gordon (recognized from Blood Quantum, Reservation Dogs, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1), portraying two Navajo police officers battling the forces of evil in the 1970s Southwest.

Following its acclaimed run on Alibi, "Dark Winds" Season One is set to hit the shores of the UK, available on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital platforms from November 27, 2023, courtesy of Acorn Media International. Both discs promise an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes, offering a special look into the making of the series, featuring an interview with executive producers Robert Redford and Chris Eyre.

Set in the expansive landscape of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley in 1971, "Dark Winds" unravels the tale of Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn (McClarnon), a taciturn and revered figure in the Tribal Police. Tasked with patrolling vast stretches of desert, Joe strives to protect and care for his Navajo community while grappling with the unforgiving realities of the world.

His journey is joined by the suave new deputy Jim Chee (Gordon), carrying his own burdens and secrets, and Sergeant Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten – known for Frontier and Tribal), both born on the reservation, bringing an intimate understanding of their communities that outsiders can never grasp.

In the face of a series of seemingly disconnected crimes, including the brutal and enigmatic murder of a local indigenous family and a daring armed robbery involving a helicopter, bombs, and masked thieves, the trio faces an uphill battle. As FBI Special Agent Whitover (Noah Emmerich) delves into the mysteries, Joe feels the pressure to solve the cases, and in doing so, uncovers scars from his own past.

Amidst battling both human and supernatural forces of evil, and facing their personal demons, Joe and Jim are compelled to unite in a race against time to protect their community.

With a riveting narrative, genre-defying twists, and characters often underrepresented in mainstream media, "Dark Winds" shines a refreshing light on a rarely-seen culture. Prepare for a breath-stealing, potent, and gorgeously crafted experience this autumn. "Dark Winds" promises to be an enthralling journey, defying genres and keeping you on the edge of your seat, beckoning you into its gusty tale of mystery and suspense.
