First Look: Big Mood – starring Nicola Coughlan, Lydia West and Sally Phillips

Channel 4 has given us a sneak peek at the upcoming comedy series, "Big Mood," produced by Dancing Ledge Productions, a division of Fremantle.

Written and Created by Camilla Whitehill

"Big Mood" is a vibrant and rebellious exploration of female friendship, entangled with the complexities of a serious mental illness. This six-part series, created by Camilla Whitehill, is set to grace the screens of Channel 4 in 2024.

Exploring the Uncharted Territory of Friendship and Mental Health

The series delves into the lives of best friends Maggie and Eddie, portrayed by Nicola Coughlan (known for "Bridgerton" and "Derry Girls") and Lydia West (of "It's A Sin" and "Inside Man" fame). They've been inseparable for a decade, weathering thick and thin and enduring countless eyebrow trends. But as the rest of their lives loom large, with careers hanging in the balance, and Maggie's bipolar disorder resurfacing, Eddie starts to question if their friendship is truly in their best interests. This pivotal moment in their lives brings forth critical questions: Can sleeping with your former History teacher unlock happiness? Is a basement Rat Hotel a practical alternative to pest control? With their twenties now behind them, Maggie and Eddie must confront the future and ask if their friendship can stand the test of time.

A Stellar Creative Team

"Big Mood" is not only a compelling story but also a product of exceptional talent behind the scenes. Directed by Rebecca Asher ("Dead to Me" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine"), this series is executive produced by Lotte Beasley Mestriner ("The Young Offenders") and produced by Georgie Fallon ("The Following Events are Based on a Pack of Lies"). Laurence Bowen ("The Salisbury Poisonings" and "The Responder") and Chris Carey ("Crossfire" and "Wedding Season") take on the role of executive producers for Dancing Ledge Productions. The casting director is Lauren Evans ("Sex Education"). Fremantle will handle global distribution for the series. "Big Mood" was commissioned for Channel 4 by Commissioning Editor, Laura Riseam.
