For more than two decades, the acclaimed daytime series, A Place in the Sun, has been instrumental in assisting numerous individuals in discovering their ideal homes abroad.
Whether it's permanent residences or vacation getaways, the upcoming series, 'A Place In The Sun What Happened Next?' will revisit families and couples, reaching as far back as 2007, who took the leap and purchased properties abroad.
Across more than forty episodes, our team of property experts – including Jasmine Harman, Ben Hillman, Laura Hamilton, Leah Charles-King, Danni Menzies, Jean Johansson, Craig Rowe, Lee Juggurnauth, and Sara Damergi – will reconnect with the house-hunters they guided over the years to see if their dream acquisitions translated into their dream lives.
Viewers are in for a special treat as A Place in the Sun's former presenter, Amanda Lamb, makes a return for the new series. Amanda will reunite with Mike and Fiona from Derbyshire, whom she first met in 2007 when the couple was searching for a holiday home in the picturesque region of Lorraine, France.
Many of the previous house-hunters are now basking in the sun, savoring a more relaxed pace of life. Some have been busy renovating barns, embracing eco-friendly living, running bed and breakfasts, and working harder than ever. Warmer climates have alleviated medical conditions, some have found love, and others who initially purchased holiday homes have made permanent relocations.
Senior Executive Producer, Michelle Heeley, expresses, "It's been wonderful to revisit these house-hunters thriving in their new homes in the sun. We are immensely proud to have played a role in changing so many people's lives. It's a testament to the hard work our production team and presenters have put in over the past 23 years. I can't wait for viewers to see what happens next."
Channel 4's Head of Daytime & Features, Jo Street, remarks, "A Place in the Sun is such a beloved show, and we know the audience really cares what happens to the house-hunters once the cameras leave. What a treat to catch up with homeowners and see what happened when that offer was finally accepted!"
The new series is a double commission, with 20 episodes being filmed in 2023 and 20 more in 2024.
'A Place in the Sun What Happened Next?' is produced by Freeform Productions for Channel 4. Michelle Heeley serves as the Executive Producer, and Siobhan O'Gorman is the Series Editor. The commission was overseen by Commissioning Executive Barry Agnew and Jo Street, Head of Daytime and Features at Channel 4.
