Mayfair Witches, based on Anne Rice's acclaimed trilogy coming to BBC

BBC Two and iPlayer have secured the rights to the supernatural drama "Mayfair Witches," an eight-part series based on Anne Rice's best-selling novels. Produced by AMC NETWORKS, the show features an ensemble cast, including Emmy®-nominee Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus), Jack Huston (House of Gucci, Fargo), Harry Hamlin (Mad Men), and Tongayi Chirisa (Palm Springs, Antebellum).

Adapted from Anne Rice's iconic trilogy, Lives of the Mayfair Witches, the series delves into themes of female empowerment and the mortal consequences of our choices. The narrative centers around Rowan (played by Alexandra Daddario), a young neurosurgeon with intuitive abilities who discovers her supernatural heritage as the unexpected heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, Rowan must confront a malevolent force that has plagued her family for generations.

"Mayfair Witches" follows the success of the critically acclaimed "Interview with the Vampire," also produced by AMC NETWORKS and based on Anne Rice's works. The latter recently aired on BBC Two and is available for streaming on iPlayer.

Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, commented, "Mayfair Witches, the second series set in Anne Rice's Immortal Universe, conjures up a darkly distinctive and richly atmospheric companion piece to the critically-acclaimed Interview with the Vampire."

The BBC acquired "Mayfair Witches" from AMC NETWORKS. Showrunner Esta Spalding (Masters of Sex, On Becoming a God in Central Florida) and Michelle Ashford (Masters of Sex, The Pacific, John Adams) serve as executive producers alongside Mark Johnson, Director Michael Uppendahl, and Jeff Freilich. The series, consisting of eight episodes, was directed by Uppendhal (Episodes 1 & 2), Axelle Carolyn (Episodes 3 & 4), Haifaa al-Mansour (Episodes 5 & 6), and Alexis Ostrander (Episodes 7 & 8).
