Nightsleeper - First Images revealed of upcoming BBC thriller

The BBC has released sneak peeks of Nightsleeper, its soon-to-be-released real-time thriller centered around the hacking of a sleeper train journeying from Glasgow to London. Brace yourselves for a heart-pounding narrative as a government agency races against time to thwart the escalating chaos onboard. Can two strangers, one on the train and one off, join forces to rescue the diverse passengers hurtling towards what might genuinely be their ultimate destination?

Starring Alexandra Roach (The Light in the Hall) and Joe Cole (Gangs of London), this suspenseful thriller, penned by BAFTA award-winning writer Nick Leather (Murdered For Being Different), is brought to you by Fremantle's Euston Films and is slated to hit BBC One and BBC iPlayer in early 2024.

Meet Abby Aysgarth, portrayed by Alexandra Roach, the Acting Technical Director at the UK's National Cyber Security Centre. Just as she's about to embark on a well-deserved holiday, a phone call shatters her plans – the UK railway network is under attack. Meanwhile, Joe Cole takes on the role of Joe Roag, an off-duty cop hoping for a peaceful night onboard. Little does he know that the next six hours will be a tumultuous rollercoaster as he and Abby grapple with their own distrust and the unpredictable actions of those now in control. Together, they're determined to prevent the Heart of Britain from reaching its final destination in more ways than one.

The star-studded cast also includes Alex Ferns (The Devil's Hour), Sharon Small (The Bay), James Cosmo (Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan), David Threlfall (Shameless), Daniel Cahill (The Control Room), Lois Chimimba (Vigil), Gabriel Howell (The Fence), Katie Leung (Harry Potter), Leah MacRae (Rosie Molloy Gives Up Everything), Ruth Madeley (Years and Years), Adam Mitchell (Mother's Day), Pamela Nomvete (Andor), Scott Reid (Maxine), Sharon Rooney (Barbie), and Parth Thakerar (Gangs of London).

Nightsleeper, a 6x60 series for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, is produced by Euston Films (known for Wreck, The Sister, Dublin Murders), a Fremantle label. The series is helmed by directors Jamie Magnus Stone (Doctor Who, Ten Pound Poms) and John Hayes (Dublin Murders), with Nick Leather and Laura Grace (Episode 4 and 5) as writers. Executive Producers include Kate Harwood for Euston Films, along with Nick Leather, Jamie Magnus Stone, and Gaynor Holmes for the BBC. Jonathan Curling (The Sister, Baghdad Central) serves as the producer, with Daisy Costello as the Co-Producer. Fremantle is taking care of global distribution. Get ready for a wild ride as Nightsleeper unfolds its gripping tale of intrigue and suspense.
