In which we discover that Gary's claim to have worked as a medium at the House of Commons is rather like many an MP's claim for expenses - it doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

So Gary has "worked as a Psychic Medium...even at the House of Commons". What on earth can he mean? Was he demonstrating his powers to a select committee? Remote viewing for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Somehow I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to learn that the latter scenario actually took place - it would explain so many things - but Gary was curiously vague about the whole affair. All he'd say was that he appeared at some sort of charity event in aid of "Helping Hands" and that Harrow MP Tony McNulty was present.

Earlier today (5th March 2008) I received a reply from Mr McNulty:

So now we know. Gary may have helped with the arrangements or "appeared as part of a cabaret". Whichever it was, he didn't exactly leave an indelible impression on Mr McNulty's memory. If Gary performed merely as an entertainer he should have made this clear on his website, not left readers with the distinct impression that his "work" at the House of Commons involved demonstrating his paranormal powers.

And there's an interesting coda to this little incident. Tom Roberts recognized the name of the lady who organized the events:
