Latest News : A Response From Dr Gowri Motha regarding Gary Mannion's Claims
Posted by admin on 2008/3/5 18:40:00 (747 reads)

Back in the mists of time - late last August, to be precise - Gary Mannion assured readers of UK-Skeptics that "I do currently work with many leading doctors and medical professionals". Everything went quiet for three months until 5th December, when Gary bounced back with this post:

Quote:

"Some of the medical professions I work with are
Dr Gowri Motha - Got waterbirth into the Nhs
Manesh Naidoo - Head Physiotherapiist for Northwick park Hospital
Dr Glen Davies - Homeopatic Doctor, with over 30 years experiance.

E.t.c I will have to ask the other medical professions if I can post their Details."

Now this sounded very promising indeed. Dr Gowri Motha is probably best known as obstetrician to the stars - her clients include Madonna, Kate Moss, Stella McCartney and Gwyneth Paltrow - and she is indeed a pioneer of the water birth method. But does she really endorse Gary's abilities, which for those of you who haven't been paying attention include psychic surgery, hypnotherapy and the ABE Healing Method?

Gary subsequently threw Dr Motha's name about with great abandon and repeated it again at his demonstration of psychic surgery at St James' Church, Piccadilly, on Monday evening.

Needless to say, Dr Motha is a very busy woman and it took quite a few e-mails from me to elicit a reply. However, I received two e-mails from her this afternoon and neither of them will give Gary much to smile about. The bolding is mine.

Here's the first one:

Quote:
"Thank you for bringing my attention to this matter.

I do know Gary Mannion well as he was introduced to me by Jayn of splashdown water birth pool hire services who is a very old associate and friend of mine.

As always I maintained an open mind to his talents. I consider him as a healer in training. I wish him well.

However I have not seen him for a year.

I will ask him to refrain from using my name in his future talks as I was only investigating his talents at the time that I have known him."

The second one:

Quote:
"I consider him as a healer in training.

Perhaps he is yet to surprise us all!

However I do share your concerns about his extravagant claims.

I have yet to be impressed by him.

I consider life as a bit of divine play, and I am vastly amused by it all!"

Of all the emotions I feel when I consider Gary's farcical claims, "amusement" isn't at the forefront. This is a man who on Monday night told a paying audience that the oranges we buy in the shops are injected with arsenic, and that a dog lived for nine years after having its blood replaced with sea-water. Still, at least we know that Dr Motha doesn't want her name mentioned at Gary's future public appearances.

This leaves Gary with the mysterious Manesh Naidoo, who doesn't seem to be Head Physiotherapist at Northwick Park Hospital or anywhere else - in fact I have yet to confirm that such a person exists (or perhaps Gary's free-form spelling is to blame for my lack of success). For reasons which will be obvious to BadPsychics regulars I'm not going to waste my time on homeopathic doctor Glen Davies, and since Gary refuses to name any of the GPs he works with I can't contact any of them either. It looks as though Gary's spirit guide Abraham and his 37 invisible (but qualified) surgeon pals are Gary's sole support, which is rather alarming as Gary is the first to admit that without their assistance he knows nothing about medicine or the human body.

Chris French Challenge To Gary Mannion
December 11th 2007,
Prof' Chris French
issued a challenge to Gary Mannion to prove his claims, the challenge was accepted. This challenge was repeated on February 4th 2008, and was accepted again.

A member of the BadPsychics site has agreed to put up £50,000
of his own money if Gary can pass a test demonstrating his abilities.

Will Gary ever actually go through with the challenge? We will keep an eye on how long it takes for him to go through with it.
