MasterChef Australia *UK Premiere* *Series Continues*
Sunday to Friday, 7pm (from Sunday 2nd October)
One of the world’s toughest food cook-off series continues on Watch this month with more incredible culinary challenges and some amazing special guests.
Once again chefs George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan return as judges, alongside restaurant critic Matt Preston. They’re joined in series thee by chef Matt Moran – a guest in previous series he joins the panel full-time.
We pick up the action with a special challenge for contestants Craig and Hayden, who are chosen for a private tutorial with Romeo Baudouin, master Charcutier at Victor Churchill’s butcher. Other challenges see the wannabe chefs preparing meals for hungry miners at the Sunrise Damn Gold Mine in Western Australia, a Spanish-themed invention test and some very familiar faces.
In episode 34, the contestants are tasked to cook six mystery dishes that are soon revealed to have been created by none other than the Domestic Goddess herself, Nigella Lawson. To the delight and horror of the contestants, she appears as a guest judge to cast her seductive eye over dishes cooked from her own cookbooks.
Then, in episode 36, legendary seafood chef (and sometime Australian resident) Rick Stein teams up with the larger-than-life Malaysian chef, Chef Wan, to host a very special MasterClass in beautiful Malaysia. Two lucky contestants are treated to a trip around the amazingly vibrant Malaysian markets before learning how to cook a traditional laksa with Rick.
The familiar faces don’t end there – in episode 38 one of the world’s most decorated chefs, Britain’s very own Heston Blumenthal, presents the team with a very special challenge. While the contestants are still trying to catch their breath, he asks them to make burger, fries and a milkshake. But this isn’t any burger, fries and milkshake… this burger, fries and milkshake Heston Blumenthal-style!
