Amanda Lamb returns to Home for the second series of My Flat-Pack Home, where she continues her mission to make us look at prefabricated properties in a completely different light.
In this new 10-part series, Amanda travels up and down the country following the lives and tastes of families, couples, and individuals, who are living out their dreams during the construction and erection of their very own personal grand-design projects. With a huge range of budgets and designs available, the humble flat-pack home has undergone a renaissance during recent years, with homeowners now turning to prefabs as an affordable alternative to expansion or holiday homes.
Budgets range from £30,000, for a recording studio in a back garden in Barnes, West London, to an imitation manor house covering 2,800 square feet costing more than £1.1m in West Sussex.
Each property is as unique and bespoke as its owner. From a multi-millionaire businesswoman who wants to build three inter-connecting eco-pods in her back garden in Cheshire, to the couple who dream of an 18th century thatched cottage in Oxfordshire, every build will leave you wondering whether they really are prefabricated.
From start to finish, Amanda will be on hand to see how each contributor selects the design and model, finding out how the home is built, and, of course, how it’s erected in situ. The interior design will also be a key focus as she explores how best to transform a shell into a personalised prefabricated dream home.
The results that are achieved will amaze and astound you, ensuring that you never look at a prefabricated property in the same way again.
