Apple TV+ has provided an exciting first glimpse into the much-anticipated fourth season of its critically acclaimed espionage series "Slow Horses," set to premiere globally on Wednesday, September 4. This season, adapted from Mick Herron's CWA Gold Dagger Award-winning novel "Spook Street," promises to deliver the same blend of dark humor and suspense that has garnered a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim since its debut.

A Tumultuous New Season

"Slow Horses" continues to follow the dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents relegated to Slough House, a department for MI5 rejects. The fourth season kicks off with a bang—literally—as a bombing exposes personal secrets and further destabilizes the already shaky foundations of Slough House. This explosive start sets the stage for another gripping narrative where the agents, led by the brilliant yet abrasive Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman), navigate the treacherous waters of espionage and their own fallibilities.

Star-Studded Cast

The series boasts a stellar ensemble cast, with returning actors including Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas, BAFTA Scotland Award winner Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan, and Academy Award nominee Jonathan Pryce. Season four also welcomes new faces, such as SAG Award winner Hugo Weaving, BAFTA Award winner Joanna Scanlan, IFTA Award winner Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, and James Callis, adding further depth and intrigue to the story.

Behind the Scenes

Produced by See-Saw Films, "Slow Horses" is adapted for television by Will Smith, known for his work on "Veep." The fourth season is directed by Adam Randall, with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Jane Robertson, Julian Stevens, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Graham Yost, and Smith serving as executive producers.

Critical Acclaim and Awards

Since its premiere in 2022, "Slow Horses" has earned widespread acclaim, securing two BAFTA Television Awards and nine additional nominations. The series' accolades include Best Editing: Fiction (Sam Williams), Best Sound: Fiction (Sound Team), Best Drama Series, Best Lead Actor (Gary Oldman), Best Supporting Actor (Jack Lowden), Best Original Music: Fiction (Daniel Pemberton and Mick Jagger), and more. It also won Best English-Language Drama Series at the 2022 C21 International Drama Awards.

Looking Ahead

Fans eagerly awaiting the new season can catch up on the first three seasons of "Slow Horses," all of which have received Certified Fresh scores on Rotten Tomatoes and are available for streaming on Apple TV+. Additionally, Apple TV+ has announced a fifth season, set to be adapted from Herron's "London Rules," ensuring that the thrilling adventures of Slough House will continue.

As anticipation builds, the fourth season of "Slow Horses" promises to deliver a captivating blend of humor, drama, and espionage, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats every Wednesday from September 4 through October 2 on Apple TV+.
