From the makers of The Great British Bake Off and The Piano, Channel 4 is preparing to launch Your Song (working title), a new six-part music series that focuses on everyday people and the songs that have shaped their lives. Produced by Love Productions, the team behind some of the UK's most popular factual entertainment programmes, the show will highlight emotional stories through live performances in public spaces.
Presented by Alison Hammond, Your Song will offer a platform for individuals to share the personal stories behind the music that matters to them. Whether a track helped someone through a difficult time, reminded them of a loved one, or marked a turning point in their life, each performance will connect song and story in a powerful way. Performers will take to a pop-up stage in the heart of UK towns and cities, supported by crowds and the show's production team.
Hammond, known for her warmth and humour, said: "I love the power that music and singing your heart out has, it can literally change your mood, put a smile on your face, make you sad, make you reminisce, so I'm really excited about this new show which is about real people telling us their stories, through song, let's hit the road!"
Channel 4 commissioning editors Cimran Shah and Tim Hancock added that the series will be "warm, joyful and feature some absolutely knock-out singers," with performances from people of all ages. "Whether they're 7 or 70 years old, Your Song is all about celebrating the best unknown singing talent in Britain," they said.
Love Productions' Creative Director Kieran Smith emphasised the emotional foundation of the show. "Every song has a story and Your Song celebrates every note that is personal. This show isn't about flashy performances or chasing fame, it's about authenticity and about songs that have real meaning to the singers."
Your Song is a 6 x 60' series for Channel 4. It was commissioned by Head of Specialist Factual Shaminder Nahal, alongside Commissioning Editors Cimran Shah and Timothy Hancock. It is executive produced by Martha Delap and Kieran Smith for Love Productions.
