Acorn TV's original crime drama, The Chelsea Detective, returns for its third series on Monday 1 December, following DI Max Arnold, played by Adrian Scarborough, and DS Layla Walsh, portrayed by Vanessa Emme, as they confront a series of chilling murders in Chelsea. From a former popstar's death to a climate scientist's mysterious murder, the series blends intricate investigations with the detectives' personal struggles. Max explores couples therapy with his estranged wife Astrid, while Layla navigates a long-distance relationship with her partner Jon, showing that their personal lives are as complex as the crimes they solve.
The three episodes in this series promise tense plotting and unexpected turns. In Deadlock, Max and Layla investigate the body of ex-soldier Jerome Singer, with a trail leading from a local allotment to the US Ambassador's home, challenging their investigative skills against diplomatic authority. Myths and Legends follows the murder of antiques dealer Niall Hammond, where secrets around a rare gold coin and tangled family motives complicate the case. Finally, For The Greater Good confronts the death of climate scientist Archie Draper, revealing a web of deceit tied to environmental politics and a shocking hidden agenda. Series 3 continues to deliver suspenseful storytelling and compelling character work.
