BBC One dominated UK screens on New Year's Day, with The Traitors leading the way, pulling in around 6.4 million overnight viewers. The reality hit clearly had audiences hooked from the start of the year.
Close behind were Wild London and The Night Manager, both drawing strong numbers. Long-running favourites also held their ground, with EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale all landing in the top ten.
Quiz and entertainment shows filled out the rest of the list. ITV's The Chase, BBC One's Mrs Brown's Boys, BBC Two's Celebrity Mastermind, and ITV's Time is Money rounded out the day's most watched programmes.
Here's the full top ten:
- The Traitors (BBC One) – 6.4m viewers
- Wild London (BBC One)
- The Night Manager (BBC One)
- EastEnders (BBC One)
- Coronation Street (ITV1)
- Emmerdale (ITV1)
- The Chase (ITV1)

Overnight figures show BBC One clearly led the pack, while ITV's mix of soaps and entertainment maintained a loyal audience on a public holiday.
