Following a hugely successful debut, Big Mood is officially returning for a second series on Channel 4. Created and written by Camilla Whitehill, the comedy was Channel 4 streaming's highest new comedy launch since Derry Girls, cementing its place as a standout hit. Produced by Fremantle's Dancing Ledge Productions, the series is set to bring back Nicola Coughlan as Maggie and Lydia West as Eddie, reprising their roles as two best friends navigating the highs and lows of life with humour, chaos, and heart.

The new series picks up a year after Maggie and Eddie last saw each other, with no contact in between. When Eddie suddenly returns for a wedding, she isn't alone, enter Whitney, an infuriatingly upbeat spiritual healer who appears to have taken Maggie's place. As Maggie tries to find her way back into Eddie's life, she faces the daunting possibility that their friendship may never be the same.

Camilla Whitehill expressed her excitement about the show's return, joking that she had "no plan B and zero transferable skills" and was delighted to bring Big Mood back. She praised the support from Channel 4, Dancing Ledge, and Fremantle while humorously acknowledging her ongoing "blackmail campaign" to keep Coughlan and West on board.

Nicola Coughlan shared her enthusiasm for the second series, describing the show as "mad, funny, sad" and one of the greatest joys of her life. Lydia West echoed the sentiment, looking forward to reuniting with the team and diving back into Maggie and Eddie's world.

Channel 4's Head of Comedy, Charlie Perkins, highlighted the show's impact, noting that audiences quickly connected with its sharp writing and the chemistry between Coughlan and West. Laurence Bowen, CEO of Dancing Ledge Productions, praised Whitehill's storytelling and the cast's performances, which brought a perfect blend of humour and authenticity to the series.

With Rebecca Asher returning to direct and executive producers Lotte Beasley Mestriner, Laurence Bowen, and Chris Carey on board once again, the second series promises to build on everything audiences loved about the first. Global distribution will be handled by Fremantle, with transmission details to be announced in due course.

For those who missed it, Big Mood Series 1 is currently available to stream on Channel 4 in the UK and on Tubi in the US and Canada.
