The return of Rob and Romesh feels like settling back into a favourite armchair, only this time the armchair has been hauled across continents and dropped into situations that would make most of us want to lie down quietly in a dark room. The BAFTA winning Sky Original series lands on 9 December, bringing a fresh run of globe hopping chaos as Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan attempt to conquer a new batch of wildly ambitious challenges.
Their first stop is Mumbai. The pair have decided to try their luck in one of the biggest film industries on the planet, which is a polite way of saying they intend to bluff their way into Bollywood. It is famous for its huge dance sequences and vivid spectacle, so the boys call in proper help from Ali Fazal and Anupam Kher while they angle for roles in a full scale blockbuster. It is a tall order, although that has never stopped them before.
Things shift again once they reach New York. Romesh has always been drawn to Hip Hop, although the idea of performing in a freestyle cypher has haunted him for years. The birthplace of the genre seems the only place to face it head on. With Raekwon from the Wu Tang Clan waiting to guide them, the pair try to push through Romesh's nerves and see if they can actually hold their own.
The tone changes in the Sumatran jungle, where they head deep into the rainforest in the hope of capturing a single photograph impressive enough to enter into Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Their track record with animals does not always suggest calm professionalism, so the jungle might have its work cut out.
London brings them back to something more structured, although not necessarily easier. The Globe theatre is the stage and Romeo and Juliet is the task. Michelle Terry leads the way, joined by Jessie Buckley and Martin Freeman, as Rob and Romesh attempt to deliver one of Shakespeare's most famous plays without falling apart in front of an audience that knows every line.
Everything builds toward a fitting finale in early 2026. The series rounds off with a two part Winter Special that follows a full year of training with Team GB. Their search for a winter sport takes them from Bobsled to Biathlon, Skiing to Curling, all with guidance from Eddie the Eagle, Eve Muirhead, Mia Brookes and Team Mouat. The trip stretches from St Moritz in Switzerland to the World Curling Championships in Fredericton in Canada, giving the lads a final push before the Winter Olympics arrive.
Rob and Romesh Vs is made by CPL, part of Seven. One Studios, with Murray Boland, Danielle Lux, David Taylor and Bill Righton serving as Executive Producers. Barbara Lee commissions the series for Sky.
The new series begins on Sky and NOW from Tuesday 9 December, with the Winter Special arriving in early 2026.
